One of the busiest convention centers in the world, the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), is a 4.6 million-square-foot facility with the capacity to host events that can accommodate approximately 200,000 participants. The LVCC, owned and operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), hosts a variety of trade shows, meetings and events paired with the world-class resorts, entertainment and hospitality that can only be found in Las Vegas.

For the new West Hall space, LVCC needed a technology solution that would provide a single pane of glass for universal control and allow for selection among multiple audio and video sources. Crestron technology creates a consistent user experience in each room with optimum reliability for every client and their unique events.

THE CHALLENGE

The LVCC’s $1 billion West Hall expansion adds 1.4 million square feet of space to the existing 3.2 million square foot campus. The West Hall features a contemporary design, ample natural light and a sleek design located on what was once the site of the Landmark and Riviera hotels, adjacent to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. For the new space, LVCC needed a technology solution that would provide a single pane of glass for universal control and allow for selection among multiple audio and video sources.

THE SOLUTION

The Las Vegas Convention Center utilized Crestron technology to manage and control all meeting rooms and exhibit hall spaces in the West Hall. Lawrence Roney, Senior Director of Information Technology, and Chris Marsh, Senior Manager of Telecommunications at LVCVA, worked with AV integration firm Conti Corporation to incorporate a consistent technology experience that would simplify management during live events and conferences.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Crestron control systems serve as the heart of the technology infrastructure in the new West Hall, integrating and automating the various technologies throughout the spaces. LVCC hosts many events each day with a wide range of clients who need reliable technology for the best possible outcomes for each event. There are over 100 Crestron touch screens spaced throughout the meeting rooms, exhibit halls, and the catwalk.

In each conference room, Crestron touch screens enable users to customize the settings of the space they are in; they can control the audio, temperature, lighting, and their overall experience. The staff preset and store their lighting controls in different spaces prior to their events. Crestron touch screens are the single point of control for each meeting room, providing a clean look and feel.

LVCC uses the Crestron XiO Cloud® service to monitor the status of Crestron touch screens and processors throughout the West Hall. Crestron XiO Cloud saves time by allowing the users to see anything that may be disrupting the system. While Crestron XiO Cloud allows the LVCVA to monitor the touch screens, Crestron XPanel is utilized to make the remote adjustments as they are needed. The LVCVA management team is able to leverage Crestron XPanel to make live adjustments to the temperature or lighting control on any touch screen, and from wireless tablet computers, without having to physically travel to that room. "XiO Cloud and XPanel give us the visibilty and awareness of the devices at all times and allows us to make adjustements on the fly which is critical during live events," says Pete Truelson, Senior Systems Engineer at Conti Corporation.

RESULTS

Crestron technology creates a consistent user experience in each room for everyone who comes through the West Hall. With the help of ContiCorporation, the technology in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s space features optimum reliability for every client and their unique events.
